Workers Without Bosses: Solidarity With Argentina's Self-Managed Factories

The workers of Brukman, one of about 200 self-managed factories in Argentina, need your help. Although they recovered their factory at the beginning of 2004 and are running it again, the factory has been damaged by police action, and many of the machines are not running at full capacity due to lack of spare parts and repair manuals.

Police use teargas at Masai rally

Kenyan police fired teargas to disperse about 100 Masai tribesmen marching to the British high commission to demand the return of their land. It is due to them after a colonial-era treaty expired this month.

World Bank loan to Brazil targets environment

Brazil is to get a $1.2bn (£0.67bn) loan from the World Bank over four years. The money will be used to hire more environmental experts to quicken the process of licensing projects, including offshore oil rigs and hydro-electric plants. The country will have 17 years to pay back the loan at an interest rate of 4.9%.
