Press Conference by Tortured Pakistanis

Three Pakistani immigrants at the centre of claims that MI6 agents were involved in torture in Greece gave a press conference on January 3rd. They claimed they were "beaten, hooded and menaced" by secret service agents who were named in a Greek newspaper (To Proto Thema) over Xmas. Those accused include Nicholas Langman, a "Counsellor" based at the Embassy in Athens.

Austrian Group Hack CCTV Signal

A group in Austria managed to hack into the signal broadcast from a CCTV camera using off-the-shelf equipment. When using the signal, they experimented with ways to block the camera's view and found that laser pointers and balloons were both effective. The police switched over to using cables rather than radio in their cameras soon after the group's demonstration.

Glasgow Asylum Seeker detained this morning

During the No Borders Network picket of Brand Street Immigration Centre this morning (Wednesday 04.01.06) one of the white Securicor vans with blacked out windows drove out and returned an hour later with a, so far unidentified, person detained in the back of it.

Round-Up of Resistance to the Asylum System in Glasgow

This winter, Glasgow has seen an extraordinary upsurge in protest and direct action in response to the Government's inhumane treatment of asylum seekers living in the city. The campaign has brought the issue of dawn raids on asylum seekers' homes to wide attention and caused embarassment to politicians and officials by exposing their callousness to public scrutiny. More importantly, though, there're growing signs that it is starting to bring back hope, dignity and confidence to those people who the system has isolated and dehumanised.

Critical Mass Catches Ally McCoist Breaking the Law

Shivering riders on the regular Critical Mass bike ride in Glasgow last Friday were amused to see former footballer and "TV personality" Ally McCoist in the rush hour traffic, yakking away on a mobile phone.
