Faslane Cops get anti-lock-on wagon

"Ministry of Defence Police at HM Naval Base Clyde recently took delivery of a new specially adapted Protester Removal Team (PRT) vehicle.

"'This vehicle enhances our response to 'lock-on' incidents by having all the equipment in situ rather than having to load the vehicle on each occasion,' explained senior police officer, Superintendent Kevin Craddock. 'This vehicle, combined with our specialist protester removal equipment, will help minimise the effects of protest activity at HM Naval Base Clyde.'"

COMMUNISM NOW DOWN TO THE LOWEST IN THE PHILIPPINES

Despite the tremendous efforts of the Communist Party in the Philippines to destabilize the government, its popularity is at its lowest. The Party is exerting all its best to mobilize its front organizations by using them in staging series of rallies against the government in order to create a scenario that will bring down the country’s economy to the lowest level. The Communists want to make it appear to their foreign and international supporters that they are on top of the whole situation so that more funds will be poured in to their armed struggle. But apparently, its efforts just proved to be futile with the negative results of their supposedly DAILY SHOW OF FORCE. As hard as they tried, turn out was just a mere handful of deceived people, oftentimes even less than 50 heads joined their programmed activities. This only proves to show that majority of the people are now tired of their propaganda and are prepared to just enjoy peace and harmony under a true democracy. The masses have discovered that the communists are just using their so called “democracy” to destroy the genuine democracy. The people now are able to discern that what the communist insurgents are offering is just but a sham democracy. The people have also known that these rascals are likewise using the church to attain their evil ultimate goal of destroying the government, a legitimate institution established by God. It was also unveiled to the public that the communists have even infiltrated the government one way or the other to destroy the government. The people are now fed up with the "Wolves' in Sheep’s Clothing" who represent the opportunistic communist terrorists of the Communist Party of the Philippines and it's shield, the National Democratic Front. The people are witnessing the communists malicious intent, that of superficially support human rights but in reality they are maintaining an armed terrorist/cannibalistic component, the New Peoples Army (NPA) that is bent to sabotage, thievery and mass murder of all those that oppose the communist way of life. The groups that support them are their legal fronts: BAYAN MUNA, GABRIELA, ANAKPAWIS, KMU, ALLIANCE OF CONCERNED TEACHERS, ANAKBAYAN, MIGRANTE, COURAGE, KARAPATAN and other seemingly innocent advocacy groups that are undoubtedly secretly supporting the opportunistic communist terrorists of the New Peoples Army. The communists do not believe in parliamentary struggle. They believe that the only way for change is through a violent armed revolution to topple the democratic Republic of the Philippines, OUR PHILIPPINES, the only country God has given us. At present, the people now are enjoying the real peace they longed for. The people are thankful of the government’s initiative to bring back peace and prosperity in the land. Though gradually this is being done, the signs of sustainability are ever present. The people are now proud of being a Filipino. Only in this part of the world that a country has foreseen a forthcoming global crisis. A remarkable step was undertaken by the Filipino government. Ahead of others, the Philippines did an extra mile to strengthen our economy’s firmness before the world’s economy was shaken down. THE END OF COMMUNISM IS ABOUT TO COME, IT IS INEVITABLE! SO THE WORLD MAY KNOW! http://angbayanmo.blogspot.com/

The struggle for communication.

The struggle for communication. The IMC of the world are the most appropriate space for discussions and proposals around the right to communication. The hemisphere, the continent and the world were, are and will be affected by what happens to almost the 200,000,000 (two hundred million) Brazilian citizens. We are all together on this ship in danger that is the planet earth. No one is alone or alone can solve the most serious problems. Join us in the struggle for installation of the National Forum for Democratization of Communication, which depends on the signature of President Lula, until December 31, 2008, to take place in 2009. Ask the president to do so at https://sistema.planalto.gov.br/falepr2/index.php Government of brazilian Paraná state supports implementation of the National Forum of Communication The governor Roberto Requiao met in the Palace of Araucarias in Curitiba, with the President of the Syndicate of Journalists, Aniel Almeida, the director of Corporate Defense of the Syndicate, Marcio Rodrigues, and with Rachel Braguetto, a member of the organization of civil society Intervozes . They asked the governor to support the attainment, by the Federal Government, of the National Forum for Democratization of Communication. Requiao said he supports the initiative. Members of the Committee explained that the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must sign it till December the 31th, this year, the decree calling the Forum. Only this way it can be held at 2009. Thus, Requiao said he supports the Paraná State's Committee and that he will send an official request to the president for promoting the National Forum - a call that was also recorded for transmission in Parana State's Government Radio and TV. "I make my appeal to the President of the Republic to encamp the convening of a National Conference on Communication and we already put RTVE, the television of the Government of Parana, to the meeting. The commander of the Agency (of news) of Government, Benedito Pires, will be providing all possible support to the organization of Parana's section and to the development of the national meeting, "said Requiao. "They put me a very precise focus: the right of citizenship to the communication. I think this is fundamental to any democracy. Democracy is a system that carries the opinion of the majority, but is defined by its content, and the content of democracy is freedom. Freedom of expression, of any minority that, by disseminating its point of view, can get majorities, too. I do not see in the proposal a corporate approach, but yes democratic and citizen, "the governor stressed. Marcio thinks the support of the government of Parana is important to "press" the Federal Government to convene the Forum. "It is important to hold this discussion in Parana so that we can, organized, build a proposal to bring the Forum and can modify a law that is obsolete, unsuccessful. We need to discuss a new legislation for the whole area of communication," he said. According to Aniel, the idea is that the State Committees promote discussions to outline the main problems in the area of communication and, from there, the National Forum discusses proposals for improvement. However, some points are already consensus between the organizations as the system of public concessions and the situation of community radios and TVs. The fact that much of the Brazilian media is in the hands of politicians was another point highlighted. The president of the Union stressed the need to establish a regulatory frame for journalism and to discuss the content served by private TVs. "This discussion has to pass by the public. At Paraná, we have done a public hearing at Legislative Assembly and a debate at Ponta Grossa (an important Paran's city) with all organizations involved in the State Committee", he said. Rachel says communication is a human right, hence the importance of the Forum. "We gave up the communication right to gain access to other fundamental rights such as health, education and housing. Because this government is extremely progressive and has been placed on many occasions for human rights, we believe that the governor has the role to join us , "He said. The State Committee, created in October during the hearing in the Legislative Assembly, consists of more than 18 entities, as Board of Psychology, National Federation of Journalists, APP Union, Coordination of Social Movements, Sole Workers Central, among other institutions.

Parliamentary action in 2009: GAZA

Parliamentary action in 2009:

New postcard to send to MPs – while Gaza starves, illegal settlement produce is sold in your supermarkets!
  • Please ask your MP to sign EDMs - please urge your MP to sign EDM 112 on Gaza; EDM 224 on Palestinians and peace in the Middle East; and EDM xxx on settlement goods .
Pressure that has been applied by PSC members and supporters is clearly having an impact on parliament. Ministers were well aware of the strength of feeling of the hundreds who lobbied parliament on 19 November, and statements inside parliament referring to the work that is being done up and down the country demonstrates the importance of continuing to lobby MPs.

Two issues are being taken up in particular – the siege on Gaza , and Israeli settlement goods. Foreign Office Minister Bill Rammell’s answered a parliamentary question, making clear that ‘we consider all settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories to be illegal under international law and a serious obstacle to peace’. A Westminster Hall debate on settlement goods, which took place on 17 December, heard MPs sharply criticise Israel 's settlements policy. Responding to the debate, Bill Rammell said that 'we are working on what effective action we can take actively to discourage settlement expansion, part of which is making sure that the mechanisms we already have in place work. One such mechanism is the EU-Israel association agreement, which does not entitle settlements to the preferential tariffs that we give to Israeli goods.

We have heard worrying reports that settlement goods are benefiting, so we are investigating'. He also indicated that the work done on this by PSC members and supporters is bearing fruit, saying that 'some British consumers have told us that they want to know whether they are buying goods from settlements and I believe that we have an obligation to ensure clear labelling.'
The horrific siege on Gaza is also being raised, with pressure on MPs during this parliamentary session is already delivering positive results. Over 70 MPs have signed Early Day Motion 112 on Gaza , which was only tabled on 4 December. At PSC’s evening meeting following the lobby of parliament on 19 November, MPs from across all parties spoke of the need to end the siege and for justice. Lord Ahmed had just returned from leading a European parliamentary delegation to Gaza , and Lauren Booth opened the meeting by talking about her experience of travelling on the first boat to break the siege. Ramy Abdu, a student from Gaza , told of his despair when talking to his wife, who was not able to get a permit to leave Gaza , and hearing that she had no fuel to cook food for herself and their young child. The urgency of international action to end the siege is impossible to ignore.

Please order the new postcard !
A postcard is being produced for the new year, telling MPs that 'while Palestinians starve in Gaza ... Israel sells food from stolen Palestinian land in your supermarket'. We want to send a clear and unmistakable message to MPs that the siege on Gaza must end, and the sale of settlement goods must stop. Please help us by ensuring that friends, family and supporters also send these postcards to their MPs - for further details please contact the PSC office.
·        Check whether your MP has signed the EDMs – if so, please write and thank them – if not, please write to ask them to do so. For the latest list of MPs signing up:
There will be a further EDM tabled on settlement goods – please urge your MP to also sign up to this.
