Biofuels Day of Action

The April Biofools day of action saw a peaceful and creative demonstration in Edinburgh, which met heavy handed policing. There was a banner drop in Glasgow, and the fuel pumps being disabled at two BP garages. These actions were organised to protest the large-scale farming and production biofuels, which are causing climate change, hunger and human rights abuses.

Police Repression of Peaceful Protest

During a humerous and peaceful protest at the BP Garage on the Biofuels Day of Action, 5 members of the Edinburgh Clown Army were harassed and arrested. The Clowns were all treated badly, and one woman was singled out and intimidated by the police while she was in custody, and required medical attention as a result. This callous move by the police is the latest in a recent campaign of repression against environmental activists.
