A brief history of the strike of Glasgow dockers in 1889 which was proving fruitless, until they returned to work and began a go-slow or "working ca'canny".

Parents occupy school in Lanarkshire threatened with closure

Parents in Glasgow occupied yet another primary school this week; the latest in a series of school occupations which have taken place over the past year.

Taking action in response to proposals to close St. Matthew's Primary School, five concerned parents barricaded themselves inside the school and announced their intention to remain there until their demands were met. Protests have also taken place at three other schools in the area set to close.
