Machine Sabotaged in solidarity with The Happendon Wood Action Camp

Extensive damage has been caused to a mining machine at the Broken Cross open cast coal mine in South Lanarkshire. This action, taken during the night of third of October, was carried out anonymously by those acting in solidarity with The Happendon Wood Action Camp (THWAC), and in support of the residents of the Douglas Valley.

Zapatistas expelled from their land for building an autonomous school

 

In the early hours of the morning on Thursday 9th September 2010, 170 Zapatista supporters were expelled from their homes in the Tzeltal community of San Marcos Avilés, in the municipality of Chilón, Chiapas. They were attacked by members of the Mexican political parties PRI, PRD and PVEM (the green party), in retaliation for the construction of an autonomous school.

Scottish Government ignores this year's P1 Classes

The campaign group Kids not Suits welcomes the Scottish Government announcement that it will legislate for P1 class sizes of 25 for August 201, a reduction from the current 30. However, Kids not Suits is concerned for the children who started in August this year, since many of them are in class sizes greater than 25.
