SUMMARY:Earth First! Winter Moot location announced\, 6pm Fri 5th - Sun 7th Feb 2010
DESCRIPTION:
&quot\;A weekend of networking\, reflection\, strategic discussions &amp\; campaign planning for anyone involved in ecological direct action who believes in non-hierarchical organisation and directly confronting the forces responsible for the destruction of the Earth and its inhabitants&quot\;

6pm Fri 5th - Sun 7th Feb 2010
Dipton Community Centre\, Front Street (A692)\, Dipton\, Stanley\, County Durham\, DH9 9DR

The Earth First! Winter moot is an opportunity for people who feel affiliation with the ideas behind Earth First! to network\, discuss and reflect on the UK ecological direct action movement and to plan for the future. Earth First! is about direct action to halt the destruction of the Earth. We believe we can make a real difference by doing it ourselves rather than relying on leaders\, governments or industry.

This years Earth First! Winter Moot will be taking place in Co. Durham on the weekend of 6/7th February. As well as evaluations and updates from a number of ecological campaigns from around the country\, this year we will have a themed event - The Crisis\: evaluation\, analysis and possible responses. We will be exploring the interactions between the various ecological\, financial and resource crises\, examining our own conceptions and experiences of crisis\, then tying it altogether to find a way forward using non-hierarchical approaches.

We will also be hosting a discussion on how Earth First and the Camp for Climate Action intersect\, to deal with quite a number of issues that emerged at the EF! Summer Gathering\, including issues of generational understanding\, anarchism vs. liberalism\, are we seperate networks\, and how can we go forward together in the future. This debate will be taking from 6.15-7.30pm on the Saturday evening of the Moot\, and is open to all.

Everyone welcome

If your campaign (local or national) is interested in participating in the feedback please get in touch.

SUMMARY:Glasow Reshuffle Govan 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Reshuffle is a &quot\;hands on&quot\; event held at the Pearce Institute every year for the last 4. And its FREE
Basically it is an event to start the year on a positive note\, get some people into a community centre and have them leave thinking they have seen some stuff that could be of interest to them. We want visitors to taste what people are up to\, or what groups are up to in the community that is accessible to them. Folk can bring and do what they want so long as it doesn't take up to much space\, time\, and organising. (unless they want to do it themselves) The Reshuffle has no budget - but it doesn't have to cost money to enjoy ourselves. (There is however a lot of kindness involved).

If you would like to add to this Reshuffle kindness\, there are different ways of doing it. (Keeping the above in mind) You could create an event\, have a stall\, help in the cafe\, make some food\, dish out fliers\, spread the word\, help on the day or help in the many other seemingly endless things that need done - to put on an event wi nay money.

SUMMARY:Lobby Edinburgh Council on Care Payments
DESCRIPTION:
The campaign against the tender process for care and support services has achieved a huge success as the tender will now be scrapped.
However\, we stand to lose much of these gains if the Council's plans to set rates for Direct Payments and Service Level Agreements at &pound\;15.04 per hour are agreed at Thursday's Full Council meeting.
We need everyone to act now - if we lose the vote on Thursday it will mean a 17.5% cut for the services that were put out to tender. Once approved by full council there will be nowhere left to go (except costly legal challenges).
Please take some time this week to take action - we have won a vote at the full council meeting before - we can do it again but it needs pressure from all of us.
Please read on for what you can do\;

Lobby the Council 9am this Thursday 11th Feb 9am
Come along to the full Council meeting and make your feelings felt. The meeting starts at 10am so come along for 9 and bring placards / banners etc.

SUMMARY:Free spanish cinema. \\"Mensaka\\"
DESCRIPTION:
This Friday 12th February we will have a spanish cinema session at 6.OOpm in ALP Tollcross Community Centre 117 Fountainbridge. We will watch the spanish movie &quot\;Mesaka&quot\;\, with english subtitles\, so please come along and invite your friends\, it is FREE!

INFO ABOUT THE MOVIE\:
Set against the backdrop of Madrid's sizzling urban rock 'n roll scene\, Mensaka is a spicy tale of a group of young aspiring musicians trying to strike it rich\, while holding on to their creative ideals and friendships. David is a mensaka (motorbike messenger) who also plays drums in a band with the handsome Fran and Javier. The band is on the verge of signing a record contract with a sleazy agent\, but tempers flare over their being promoted as young urban poets. David refuses to compromise their rough-edged sound while Fran cares less about the music then filling his quota of pretty female groupies behind his girlfriend's back. As david\, Fran and Javi struggle to find their professional identities\, each also faces the changing demands of their personal relationships\; david with Bea\, Fran with Natalia\, and Javi with Cristina making Mensaka a film which is &quot\;perceptive about the emotional chaos that accomapnies the Great Leap Forward into adulthood\; about the patience of the girls while the boys are painfully discovering who they are\; and the way that money can convert teen rebellion into pop pulp.

DESCRIPTION:
Dear all\,

On Saturday 13th February we will be holding our &quot\;AGM&quot\; at the Glasgow Social Centre 66-68 Osborne Street.

The social centre is made by everyone who uses it\, so the more who take part in this process the better the centre will be. Unfortunately we are moving out of Osborne Street and currently searching for a new venue (shout if you know one) so now is an important time for people to get involved and take ownership.
