Re: Glasgow May Day in pictures

Turn out was pretty poor, especially by the time we got to the park there was litterally only a handfull of people. Considering the amount of planning meetings for the event I wonder what was actually planned. Oh well always next year.

Re: Glasgow May Day in pictures

Well the thing is for planning meetings to be successful people need to attend and help out with that pesky organizing thing. If you want the May Day event to be a success then you have to chip in and make it work.

Trolling for kicks or trawling for information

I'm not going to get into a "but X did this and Y was supposed do to that". I think it's fair to say that the events that were planned for were a success.

There was a decision made by people on the day to end with a march to the West End. They did that. A bunch of people preferred "anywhere but Kelvingrove," either because it's too ritualistic or because they live elsewhere in the city and there was no compelling reason to go there.

Planning meetings were advertised, other things materialised on the day through groups' autonomous actions. Kindof like every year.

"Bring what you expect to find" and all that.

Re: Glasgow May Day in pictures

I thought It was a "cosy" affair compared to previous mass turn outs, quite good for a change. Didn't stop people from chatting and enjoying the liberating atmosphere.  Maybe the short spells of torrential rain had a part to play. At one point Buchanen Street looked more like Buchanen stream certainly made the ground soaking wet. I didn't think it was a disaster just not as lively as expected but very much enjoyable none the less.
