Anti-Tesco Campaigners join forces to fight proposals in Paisley
Local residents, socialists, environmentalists and community activists have banded together to fight proposals for a massive new Tesco store in Paisley and have created a campaign called STOP, Stop Tesco Owning Paisley. Jimmy Kerr, a local community activist said:
This is a broad based campaign, set up by individuals from a range of backgrounds, all with different objections to the proposals that Tesco have brought forward. Some people object on environmental grounds, some on planning, some on economic grounds."
The campaign is expected to take many forms including lobbying politicians and sending official objections to the local planning department and the Scottish Government.
