The 2005 Tumshie Award of the Scottish Jacobite Party goes to The Management of the Bank of Scotland for consistent failure to provide adequate customer service The 2005 Tumshie Awards Earlier this year, The Bank of Scotland were caught giving vegetables to employees they judged not to meet the Bank's standards of performance. A terrible way to motivate your workers and evidence of a morally bankrupt management. There are businesses in Scotland which fail to meet The Scottish Jacobites Standard of Performance. Taking the lead from The Bank of Scotland, we take great pleasure in announcing:- The Scottish Jacobites 2005 Tumshie Award to:- The Management of the Bank of Scotland For consistent failure to provide adequate Customer Service. This is a failure of Management. They are not providing front line staff with the resources they need to adequately deal with Customers. The latest move is the introduction of an appointment system for any transaction which is out of the ordinary. The appointment software doesn't work and the staff don't know how to use it. It usually takes longer to set up an appointment than it would to deal with the question there and then. The Bank are failing to adequately train their staff to deal with the normal range of customer questions. The Bank saves money by not having to train their staff and the cost savings are being transfered over to the customer who has to arrange to visit the Bank again at a time of the Bank's choosing to deal with the problem which should have been dealt with on the first visit. This is not Customer Service. The Tumshie Awards are part of the Make Scotland Better campaign of The Scottish Jacobite Party. Businesses in Scotland exist to serve the Scottish people, their customers. Scottish Service should not be an oxymoron like Get oan, Get aff or Scottish Politician of the Year.
