The Mainshill camp was not evicted this-morning, and is still going strong. The rumours of eviction have proven unfounded.
The police visited the camp this morning (Mon 22nd), and were apparently pretty friendly, and there has been no sign of an escalation of police presence.
The camp will have some notice before the eviction will happen. There will have to be a court order, which is currently being sought. They will be made aware of this process, and notified when the court order is obtained. Once this happens, then the eviction may be at any time.
Meanwhile, the Camp is continuing to create a friendly and welcoming site, consolidating its defences. The support from local people is strong, with food and a crate of beers being delivered over the weekend!
So, the camp still needs your support! The Tea Party and open day on Sunday 28th June, from 3pm is still happening, so come for a visit.
At the moment, it is not illegal to be there - so you are unlikely to be arrested. It is only after the court order for eviction has been obtained, that you are likely to face arrest.
The Camp does not need any specialist skills to get involved with it. You dont need climbing skills, or the ability to build tree-houses, for example. But that said, if you want to learn - this is the place to go! Many people are just camping on the ground in tents, and helping out with making the site friendly and welcoming, and with the ground defences.
Details on how to get there, are published in this article.
