cop 15 denmark

Here in Demark a new law has just been made prior to the climate conference on december the 15th.

Internationals will be facing IMEDIATE DEPORTATION.

Activists  can expect to also face large fines, and or 40 days in prison.

These are the basic points of the new law introduced two days ago in the danish parliment.

demonstrators should also be aware that Here in Denmark, protestors also consume alchohol during such events and that the potential for violence and use of tear gas is NORMAL! (And that it does in fact happen ).

More information needed.

Thanks for this.

Could someone who knows what they're talking about (perhaps the contributor) give some more facts?

What is this law? What can you get deported for, fined for, jailed for 40 days for? (I guess they're probably pretty vague like here, but please give more info.)

Otherwise it just sounds like you're some troll from the Danish government or somewhere, trying to put people off coming.

Thanks x

Re: cop 15 denmark

This article is largely just scaremongering.

There are no new deportation laws, as the above article suggests, and internationals don't face "immediate deportation".

But there may be a new law restricting protests introduced, to increase fines and custodial sentences, and to increase the length of time you can be "preventatively" arrested - to prevent "illegal" protests, and also increasing the maximum sentence for "obstructing the police".

Here is a legal guide on your legal rights in Denmark from the Democratic Youth Movement, and this includes a section on deportation:

"The Danish authorities are very keen on shipping non-Danish citizens out of the country, even for minor offences. They have been known on several occasions to arrest people, give them a warning for some ridicules misdemeanor and then deport them. They can do this because of Denmark’s extremely harsh and rightwing immigration laws."

Some sources of information:

There is no guarantee that the law will be passed either. But even if it is, its no worse that in the UK, if you attend a protest where a section 60 is in force, or you are arrested to prevent a breach of the peace - a crime for which there is no maximum sentence!
