Scottish Defence League Plan Edinburgh Demo in New Year, 20th of Febuary confirmed through Casuals United.

The Scottish Defence League have confirmed by email that they are planning to hold a demonstration in Edinburgh on the 20th of February. The Anti-Muslim group are hoping to build on the “success” of their Glasgow demonstration and continue to raise their profile.

Plans are already underway to launch a counter protest given the success of the Scotland United rally at Glasgow Green. However questions remain over the possibility of a confrontational march aimed at disrupting the SDL assembly. Controversy surrounded the self declared leadership of the Glasgow feeder march by Unite Against Fascism after they appeared to split the march after having found the SDL hiding in a pub as well as allegedly handing over anti-fascist protesters to the police. UAF were accused by some quarters of collaboration and of taking over a independent march. Rumours are developing suggesting that The Green Brigade, ANTIFA and Alerta re planning a black bloc protest.

The SDL should be allowed to have a protest against Islamic extremism without left wing extremists and Celtic hoolligans trying to deny them the right to protest.

The Scotland United rally was a farce not a success. Claiming that standing about listening to turds like Amar Anwar et al whilst a couple of miles away the SDL are, as far as the SU participants are concerned, allowed to go about their business unhindered is a success beggars belief.

UAF, and the SWP, are a major problem in the struggle against fascism. They are more concerned with courting the liberal elite and the great and good than they are with preventing racism and rght wing ideologies spreading amongst the working class.

The CCS are mindless thugs, stick to drinking instead of getting involved in politics.

I think that if the Hibs CCS feel strongly about stopping the racist and fascistic E/SDL (most of whom will be bussed up from england) marching through embra, then I support that!
