Just before 6pm today former Liberal Democrat member Stuart Rodger, was arrested for throwing a blue paint filled egg at Nick Clegg in Glasgow. As he was arrested he was heard shouting "No Shock Doctrine for Britain". This is a reference to reference to Naomi Klein's book in which she describes how crises are artificially manipulated by neo-liberal Governments in order to impose economic shock therapies, such as the cuts to public services and the welfare state that, in the UK, have provoked the largest mass demonstrations in recent years.
Before today's action Stuart stated "I joined the liberal democrats 2 years ago because I wanted to stop Neo-Liberalism and so I was shocked and appalled when Nick Clegg allowed the Liberal Democrats to prop up the Tories in order to carry out an assault on the welfare state if we're going to defeat this Government we need a concerted effort to put them to a stop"
Stuart himself resigned from the Liberal Democrats after the coalition Government was formed. The blue paint was a reference to many people's disgust at the right wing direction the Liberal Democrats have taken.

Please don't talk about contributing to fines on this site.
In the past, such suggestions have been used in court to justify increasing the the fine.

Cameron and Clegg should both be outed and put someone who will do some good in their place (Not Milliband)They are attacking the disabled and making peoples lives a misery and ALL WCAs and changeovers should be immediately stopped until the system is righted - these are HUMANS not fodder for the Cameron game. I will NEVER vote LibDem again. They have been a total let down. This is meant to be the mother country and no mother would ever attack her disabled child like this! I am disgusted that they would send all the disabled people to a WCA that even the person who designed it said its not fit for purpose! And all this crap at the lib dem conference thing about how they will help the disabled is rubbish - TOO LITTLE TOO LATE CLEGG YOU ARE THE MOST (WELL SECOND MOST) Hated man in Britain! (Marginally after Cameron)

Good stuff! Thousands would queue to do the same. Clegg is a two-faced liar. A convicted arsonist who got off because of his posh school but who feels justified in 'condemning' today's looters and rioters.

Well done to that man and for standing up in what he belives if only Nick had done the same in government, the Lib Dems have lost all crediability! we need independants in government that aren't controlled by parties and whips.
