Nuclear Convoy Stopped

Activists from Faslane Peace Camp stopped a nuclear convoy near Balloch for half an hour whilst it was en route from RNAD Coulport to AWE Burghfield.
Warhead convoy passing through Balloch at night.
At approximately 10.30 on the 12th of November 3 activists from Faslane Peace Camp locked on across the Glen Fruin Haul road, stopping a nuclear convoy for half an hour whilst it was en route from RNAD Coulport to AWE Burghfield. The convoy itself carries weapons of mass destruction the equal of 24 Hiroshimas along public highways and through population centres. The monitoring of these movements by activists have resulted in this being the second consecutive convoy stop in as many months. Re: Nuclear Convoy Stopped

it's all a con! Has anybody actually examined these "war-heads"? They are filled with jelly and custard, not radioactive material. All they are doing is distracting you from the real problems this nation faces, rocketing yoghurt prices and a shortage of the word "melon". Yes, there are plenty melons, but there are currently only 230 uses of the word "melon" left wild in scotland. Shit, we're down to 228...

:)

well done peace-campers!

Re: Nuclear Convoy Stopped

well done folks, but how did they get throgh lock ons in half an hour? seems rater quick, also alritey dave why you bored?you could be out preserving a wild melon site..... oops sorry. GO ON THE DAVES!!!

UPDATE from Nukewatch

All 3 activists were charged with Breach of the Peace and 2 of the 3 for resisting arrest (and the same two for breaching bail from the Marbil coach action). They were held overnight for appearance the next day at Dumbarton Sheriff court, given trial date for sometime in Feb after which they were released yesterday afternoon. It was apparently the the cutting team van they blocked, and going on timings the convoy must have stopped and waited for the all clear.

Re: Nuclear Convoy Stopped

Nukes are bad. Axiomatic really. But they are not much of an accident hazard being transported through built up areas. For the plutonium to be an accident danger to the public it'd have to get vaporised or ground up in to small particles that can get ingested. Even if a bomb casing were breached the odd lump of it laying about the road is no health hazard at all, unless you lick it or swallow it, poke it in an orifice etc. Pu is mainly an alpha emitter, so several centimeters of air, a thin sheet of paper or even a few layers of dead skin cells is enough to protect you from that. As long as not too many of the lumps come together to cause a criticality, a very bad thing, which is an extremely remote possibility. But yea, keep up the good work. The more nukes there are the more other people want them. The more people that have them the more likely someone will use one. A bad thing.
