Today 6th February around 100 people protested at the City of Edinburgh Council meeting due to consider the £300 million Caltongate Development planned for Edinburgh’s Old Town. Demonstrators condemned the plans by developer Mountgrange to demolish 18 people's homes and listed buildings in the Canongate, on the Royal Mile.

An alternative community plan for the area has so far been rejected by the Council in favour of the big business proposal, but today speaker Catriona Grant emphasised the community would continue their struggle no matter what the Council decided today.
Full report to follow. Comments and contributions especially welcomed from people involved in the campaign and people living in the area.
