Anonymous strikes Scientologists in Glasgow

The internet-spawned campaign against the Church of Scientology organised by many Anonymouses came to Glasgow this Saturday afternoon.

By any standards, this looked like stunningly effective direct action against their chosen target. Between 6 and 10 Anonymii appeared on Buchanan Street at around 2 o'clock with a placard with pointers to more information and the web address xenu.net. The attempted suppression of this website is reportedly responsible for these widespread protests kicking off. On reaching the Church of Scientology's regular Buchanan Street stall, where they offer a consultation / sales pitch, the Anonymii caused the Church to pack up and leave. No threats, no violence, no intimidation. And nobody indoctrinated into the cult this afternoon. Seems that the mere hint of exposure is enough to cause this powerful and widespread cult to freak out and run for cover.

Re: Growing Anti-War Sentiment

Being Anti-War is a great idea. However, living in the real world, how about supporting the people who protect your right to protest against war. www.forcesparcels.com

Support the troops bring them home, as the slogan goes

Am I not paying for them to be fed through tax anyway? I'll happily support any soldier who deserts. I wouldn't support any initiative that aims to increase troop morale. If they aren't being properly fed by the state then they should refuse to do its dirty work. Their presence in Iraq and Afghanistan is making us at home less safe, not more.

Re: Anonymous strikes Scientologists in Glasgow

I was trying to get a bunch of friends to go through to Edinburgh some time to try to join them (some of my friends are actors, taking on characters would be fun) So, thanks for the info. Now I'll have something to do on Saturday afternoons (I am not a football fan). I wonder what they'll make of a kinda uncertain, spiritually-lost, forty-something just out of a relationship.... he, he, he!
