 An Edinburgh activist has been detained over the distribution of 'The Coming Insurrection'. The activist was intercepted when he tried to do a spontaneous book reading in Blackwells in South Bridge. The book came to the attention of the mass media recently when a fox news mouthpiece blabbed about it being a seditious and dangerous text and how we should all be burning it.

5 arrests as demonstrators blockade private bin lorry in Edinburgh Council dispute

 Supporters of the Edinburgh Council Cleansing workers staged a high profile blockade of a private contractor's bin lorry on the High Street on Friday 2nd October. Around 15 people surrounded the lorry, immobilising it on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, at the top of Blackfriars Street, for nearly half an hour.

Guinea: Bloody Repression Against anti-Junta Protesters

Today (28 Sept) opposition and labor protesters descended from the main boulevards of the city to the national stadium ("Stade du 28 Septembre"), but were met with a ban order, lines of troops, live fire, and rumors that the military is disappearing captives and bodies of the dead. As many as 80 bodies have been rumored to have been laid out in the stadium itself. If anything like the events of 2007 reoccur, the military would be willing to continue this crackdown for weeks or even months.

SOLIDARITY APPEAL - FROM MEXICO TO SCOTLAND

 Ruben Valencia Nunez from Oaxaca, southern Mexico spoke in Glasgow and Edinburgh in late July as part of a European tour campaigning against the criminalisation of social movements in Mexico. He urged solidarity with the people of Oaxaca who are resisting many megaprojects such as mines and dams. Several projects are run by European companies, including by Scottish Power's owners, Spanish company Iberdrola.
