Anti-racist march organising meeting

06/10/2009 19:00

On 14 November, the Scottish Defence League are proposing to hold a ‘Glasgow demonstration against Muslim extremists’ - they've applied to the council for a route assembling on Clyde Street, going over the Clyde at Gorbals Street and culminating outside Glasgow Central Mosque, where they intend to 'stand around on the pavement', or so they say.

The SDL are a Scottish incarnation of the English Defence League, a fascist group with links to the BNP and far-right football hooligans. In recent months, they’ve terrorised communities across England with their violent and provocative demonstrations, which have resulted in Asian owned businesses being smashed up in Luton and riots in Birmingham city centre.
Now they are coming to our city – we are calling on the people of Glasgow to unite to stop the fascist march. Get organised - let's stop the SDL.

ORGANISING MEETING:
Date: Tuesday 6 October
Time: 7pm
Location: Boyd Orr building (room 412), Glasgow University.

Meeting called by Glasgow Uni Left Society. All welcome.
